User Experience is Everything

www.lockergnome.com The concept of “user experience” seems pretty self-descriptive, but it does bring up the idea of perspective. A software or UI developer may make something that serves a practical, personal need, but for it to be useful to anyone else, he or she needs to be mindful of how well it will be perceived — and used — by others. 1. it’s beyond experience it’s ECOSYSTEM

Integration is essential- apple has made the 4 mobile computing components work seemlessly.

    tablet, pc phone and tv

  2. Windows’ UX is why I have a great appreciation for the NX systems… Linux is good until you have to ask for help (ie compiling a programs as part of an app’s installation), ultimately it’s the kind of OS that requires you to know what you’re doing. MAC OS is solid, stable, efficient and is simple to use (to the point where the system doesn’t treat you like an idiot) that is a classic example of good UX.

  3. @greyspot00 – You can actually tweak a lot more in OS X. There are several sites dedicated to just that. The challenge is, like with Linux, you kinda need to know what you’re doing.

Of course it’s a great comment. I made it.
    (I jest.)
I’m a PC tech and have to deal with all of them.
    Someone kill me please.

  5. great vid as always, love these conceptual posts

  6. performance and customization should never be sacrificed for user-friendliness and appearance.

  7. @chriskindle No, its my pleasure its nice to know some people are above the act of vulgarity online anyways! Oh and thank you too for answering my question “)

  8. @NatalieeRaine no problem :D thank you for reacting normally and not insulting me as “online people” usually do when you try to help

  9. isn’t intuitive the word you’re looking for? iOS is the king of intuition. Android takes weeks to master.

  10. @fpsBeaTt It depends. When I jailbroke it, I ended up adding/removing so many features I lost track of the amount of them I had. One example would be changing the lock to a fully working Android one. Call it blasphemy, but I do prefer the Android lock over, in my opinion, a dull number combination lock.

  11. @chriskindle oooooo Ok! see in my IT class we were only taught about the GUI so thank you for clearing up my confusion.

  12. Chris, are you a user!?!?!

  13. @asq67w Agreed.

  14. @NatalieeRaine if you mean the “G” at the beginning, it stands for Graphical, but an user interface doesn’t necessarily have to be graphical.

  15. Tip for anyone who is reading this comment: If you are thinking of doing an online course with the IB, make sure it isn’t on Pamoja. I had to stop doing the course and choose another one because the experience I was having with that website was terrible. In fact, as you can probably guess, the whole thing was terrible. My online teacher accidentally emailed my password to my class teacher and I had to change it.

  16. I’m currently trying to learn REASON for college. Horrible, horrible UX and HORRIBLE UI.

  17. @eventfularse what did you want to customise, exactly?

  18. @asq67w I got fed up with my iPod Touch; why should I have to jailbreak it to customize what I want?

  19. @mariokid2115 That’s the flawed way of how consumers shop.

  20. @beatmaker33 your suposed to watch his live stream on live.pirillo.com NOT USTREAM

  21. price & value > user experience

    Isn’t this how consumers work?

  22. CHRIS WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH YOUR SOUND OFF ON YOUR USTREAM PAGE PUT IT BACK ON

  23. isn’t it GUI or GUX, or does that not even matter? Excuse me if I sound ignorant

  24. Try again. I use Windows, Linux and Workbench, each of these 3 operating systems give me a bit of what need.
