Dr. Eric Schaffer, CEO of Human Factors International talks about the future of User Experience Design (UX) in a changing world. www.twitter.com Transcript: I think we all know that the world is going through a transition — that there are critical ecological factors and critical geopolitical factors which are going to change the way that we live. Every organization needs to be modeling the future, modeling how people will live, how the ecosystem of their customers will change based on these factors. And what we’re going to find is that pretty much every product and every service will have to change to adapt to the new world that we’re going to live in. And I think that the user experience design field is going to be very busy doing exactly that because our job is to understand a customer’s ecosystem and design products and services that fit with that. And as we can see and model the future we’re going to be able to design new products that will help the world adapt to a more sustainable, more ecologically appropriate lifestyle, which at the same time will make people happy, perhaps even happier than they are today. So this is really the charge of our field going forward. And it’s the fiduciary responsibility of every executive to have a trusted model of the future and to be able to build the new products and services based on that trusted model. The world is changing and those that can see the future and can adapt quickly and have first-mover advantage for that new world …
