AppInventor is handy to begin with, but it has some limitations.
should I use AppInventor to write Android apps if I know Java? or is it easier to learn the Android SDK and Eclipse?
Just a quick note: Using plain text as state indicator is resource waste. The phone has to use more power to validate the test on multiple characters. Instead use atomic values like true/false or 1/0. When making software you always want to opt for making it use as little machine resource as possible without adding unnecessary complexity. Good video though
Great Job!

Great tutorial Clark! Thanks!
Do you know how to allow someone to edit the database info from a different phone? So for instance, if I want to be able to set the oven on from my phone and when you open the app on your phone it will show the on state? Like multiple phones reading and writing to the same database. Is that possible in app inventor?
@Falsitive You need to make sure you have installed the appinventor thingy! I had the same mistake
